My singing lessons are the highlight of my week
— Kelly Sylvia
I can never thank you enough for being the brilliant vocal coach that you are and the manner in which you conduct your lessons. I was able to see my vocal abilities change and improve greatly in such a short amount of time. Your warm and caring nature makes anyone feel at ease in your presence immediately. After years of trying to find the right vocal coach, I finally found it in you Laura. I will treasure our sessions together, you are a truly inspirational and amazing vocal teacher. I feel blessed to have met and been taught by you. Lots of love
— Carla Ricotta
After some years of not singing, I completely lost my confidence and self belief. Then I met Laura. I was looking forward to our lesson every week. She not only amazingly helped me with my techniques, but she also helped me to get my confidence back. The lessons were always super fun, very helpful, motivating, joyful and relaxing. Meeting Laura and having lessons with her were the beginning of a new journey for me. I am so grateful. I have a band now, playing gigs and recording. Thank you so much. Always grateful for meeting you

Laura has changed my life... After two years of lessons with a previous teacher my singing voice had stopped improving. Someone recommended Laura to me and having lessons with her was the best decision I made in my musical career. Before I met her I was a bedroom singer/songwriter - I am a now a paid semi professional performer both as a singer in a band but also as a solo performer. This is something I have dreamt about for a very long time but never felt it was a realistic ambition until the recent dramatic improvement in my vocal skills. Laura has a multi faceted approach that was specifically tailored to suit my needs. This is not just a technical singing lesson, but a holistic approach that enabled me to realise my true singing voice . For me this was very important, as I believe a singing voice with character is far more emotive than a technically efficient voice. But don’t get me wrong, learning with Laura will improve the technical aspects of your voice dramatically - I now have the ability to project my voice into an audience. Live performance skills are another aspect that Laura has helped me with. From a personal aspect Laura is an incredibly warm, friendly and considerate teacher. Laura truly loves teaching, you can clearly see she enjoys the process as much as the student. For her the lesson is less a teacher/student dynamic but more a musical journey between two individuals. As a side benefit, singing lessons have improved my speaking voice which has improved my communication skills in my professional capacity as a multi award winning VFX Director for the Hollywood film industry
— Stuart Partridge, Musician, Songwriter and Visual Effects Specialist for Film
I came to Laura a beginner in singing and songwriting, and throughout the work we did together I not only felt encouraged to keep working and excited to do so, but also came away with a great set of tools to use to continue learning and improving. Laura always made me feel confident in the power of my own voice, and taught me techniques to help tap into that natural power. My voice transformed within four lessons, and thanks to the work we did together I found my singing strengthening in performance without conscious effort. As a result I have gone on to perform open mics and live gigs as well as record some successful demos. For the first time vocal work did not leave me feeling dissatisfied, but became a real pleasure. Laura also made sure that I understood the changes we were making room for in my voice as I learned different techniques, and as a result I always appreciated the process and have been able to continue on and practice on my own
— Violet Edelman, Singer Songwriter
Having learned to play a musical instrument at school, I knew my singing talents were sadly lacking.  Some twenty five years after ceasing to play in the school band and recouperating from a major health scare, I decided to seek out a singing teacher - just for my own personal development and to replace my passion for motorcyle touring which my heath issues had taken from me. I contacted Laura booked a lesson to fulfil something I’d been talking about doing for some time. I sang and Laura listened.  She asked about my singing ambitions and she listened as I explained the circumstances which had brought me to her studio. One lesson led to another the next week and then another.  Over two years later a singing lesson with Laura is the highlight of my week giving me the opportunity to practice, perform and have a laugh, with ever increasing confidence due to the reassurance, encouragement and technical competence that Laura provides. Laura is a great singing teacher and, perhaps more importantly, also a great person.  If you’re like me and just want to sing better, with no ambitions of public performance, book a singing lesson with Laura and just see where it takes you.  Not only has my singing improved beyond my expectations but so too has my coincidence and self esteem.  Thanks so much for everything Laura, see you next week

I was blessed to find such a wonderful and talented teacher as Laura. Laura’s classes have helped me to considerably improve my singing through various warm up techniques in a very short period of time. Singing classes with Laura have also helped me understand music better and most importantly taught me to listen, thus opening up a new way of appreciating jazz. I would highly recommend Laura to anyone who is thinking of taking up singing on a professional level or just for fun

My singing teacher Laura Long who gives me confidence in my singing… She’s the best xxx
— Helen Flanagan, Actress
Laura is a fantastic singing teacher. I decided to take singing classes because I really thought I could not sing in tune and I wanted to test it and also as a therapy, just to exteriorise feelings and let go of energy. With Laura not only did I discover that I can sing!!!! And in tune! But also her classes are a totally feel good therapy. I leave her singing studio in her romantic garden after each class, feeling light, joyful and happy and waiting impatiently for the next class. We share a lot and I feel safe and in confidence to talk about everything with Laura. With her I have also discovered the Alexander technique and the combination with singing is absolutely magical. Laura is beautiful inside and outside and has a warm heart. I love her
— Sandra Ezri, Lawyer
I started having singing and Alexander lessons with Laura after I was diagnosed with a rare lung condition. I wanted to increase my lung capacity, raise my vibration, strengthen my immune system and, crucially, learn how to hold my own at an Irish family singalong! Laura is incredibly warm, welcoming and calming. Having conquered Kate Bush (not really!), I was soon turning to Laura for presence and performance coaching, and most recently, Laura helped me to prepare a eulogy for a close friend’s funeral. Laura creates a safe and serene atmosphere that is therapeutic, practical, illuminating and also fun
— Muirinn Lane Kelly, TV Producer and Screenwriter
Laura is the most supportive and encouraging singing teacher I can imagine. I had zero experience when I walked into her lovely singing room for the first time and she made me feel comfortable and confident immediately. Three years on I am still learning and developing my voice and Laura’s love of the detail of singing technique and performing through song has encouraged me to keep on pushing to get better and better. From being strictly a shower singer, I have now sung to audiences in a number of shows and have a role in a musical. I’m sure I wouldn’t have done this without Laura’s support and encouragement and I couldn’t recommend her more highly to beginner or pro alike
— David Kerr, Actor, Writer and TV Producer
Laura has an incredible ability to understand the voice and know exactly what it needs to grow. Her creative guidance encourages you to explore how you sing, and this has allowed me to reconnect to my voice in a very natural way. Now my singing, and my confidence, has been raised to the next level. Thank you Laura
— Harriet McBain
Thanks Laura. The pantomime meeting went really really well! They were very complimentary of his singing
— Adam Muddle, Profile Talent - Agent for Curtis Pritchard
Laura is an incredibly warm and patient teacher and within a few months she had helped me to discover a depth and power to my voice that I didn’t think was possible. Working with her was a true joy
—  Sharis
I’ve been having singing lessons with Laura for a while now, and I always look forward to them. Laura clearly has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to singing. Laura is professional, kind and patient, and perceptive to how I attempt certain vocal exercises or songs, finding ways to adapt tasks to help me achieve the desired effect. Her positivity and enthusiasm for music and singing are contagious. I always leave looking forward to the next lesson and feeling like I could attempt anything
— Gemma Keating, Senior Nurse, Royal Free Hospital
Thanks to Laura’s tailored approach, I’ve started uncovering the real potential of my voice. Each lesson has constituted a unique occasion to address a number of long standing technical issues and, at the same time, to cover practical aspects of musical interpretation. I would start off with some exercises aimed at loosening up the voice, then selected “warming up” songs would follow, and towards the end of the session a more engaging repertoire would be approached to test the improvements. Trying different genres of music, from swing to hard rock, has helped me become more aware of my natural vocal attitudes, and also achieve a better control over the whole sound production. Now I feel more confident and willing to perform live
— Andrea De Gregorio
I love my hour with Laura! Every time I leave I feel uplifted, positive and like I’ve really done something worthwhile. As she says herself, I came to her with a ‘pretty’ voice – I’ve had enough training in the past to know about breathing etc, so she is really focusing on giving me breadth of styles, strength in all areas, understanding better vowel control and finding ‘the edge’ that I’m looking for. She’s teaching me to get my voice stronger. I am really pleased because while I have used some of the exercises before, now I am actually understanding how to put them into practise. Happy days! She’s lovely
— Victoria Speyer - Photographer, Singer, Jeweller
Being passionate about music and admiring great songs and singers, I never dreamt of fulfilling my desire to sing, let alone pitch a note. Then I came across Laura. A very personable teacher, Laura gives confidence, reassurance and encouragement which have led me to overcome my inhibitions at projecting my voice. Within three weeks of lessons and practice, with Laura’s non-judgemental approach, help and patience, I was able to put aside my fears and sing an entire favourite song. I am grateful to Laura for giving me this otherwise missed opportunity in being a fabulous teacher and inspiring person
— Jita Lukka - New to singing
I have always been interested in what the voice does, but working with Laura has stimulated something, some kind of drive in me, not to give up on this method. It seems to answer to years of wondering why I can’t just sing with one voice, rather than having two distinctly different voices. I know it’s early days, but I can hear that I’m making progress, which is gratifying. My lessons with Laura are the highlight of my week. She understands the fear that I have when dealing with those pesky bridges and is always encouraging and supportive. I have also found that my speaking voice is finding a balance as well and is sitting more in the chest rather than flipping up into the head voice all the time. So I guess the medicine is working! I have also found that my voice is coming more forward when I speak rather than falling down the back of my throat, which surprised me. What can I say, I’m becoming a devotee of SLS
— Anne Stafford - Actress
I was quite frustrated with my singing before I met Laura, being guided in different directions by various singing teachers - although they helped in their own ways, they were not able to pinpoint what needed change. The first lesson I had with Laura, I can remember her saying she could fix my vocals in a few lessons... I took it in with a pinch of salt :) But she was right! From the very first lesson everything started clicking logically. She analyses what I do vocally in absolute detail and is able to come up with an immediate solution. How would I describe her teaching in one sentence? She can analyse and dissect vocals in minute detail and comes up with an immediate logical solution to enhance, improve and change vocal performance for the better. Thanks Laura! I’ve got my confidence back again and have improved immensely, which means a lot to me
— Dave Gogerly - Musician, Songwriter, Singer, Technical Analyst for ITV Projects
I have sung my whole life. Before I met Laura, singing was always quite a rigid thing for me. Since the age of about 9, I was absorbed in singing classical, opera and musical theatre styles. However, as I became increasingly drawn to more contemporary sounds - pop, RnB, and jazz, for a good few years the question has always been, how do I do it? How do I switch to such a contrasting way of using my voice? Is it at all possible for me to do this, bearing in mind classical was habitual for me? I found Laura and straight away she erased any doubt from my mind. My lessons have all been about growing in confidence as a singer, thanks to Laura listening to my every need. Firstly, she understood my dilemma, thank goodness, I thought! Then step by step, totally at my pace, we have worked at the technical adjustments that I have needed to make, quite rigorously pesisting at them too! Laura and I found that my vowels were in need of a lot of TLC. My lessons have also been about exploring the use of my voice on many different songs and not being afraid of what might come out, realising there’s nothing to be scared of. I am still learning, but without Laura’s patience and dedication to my own progress, week by week, I would still be in a rut
— Mariya Mizuno - Singer, Actress
I have learned to listen and consciously limit myself in order to maximise the quality of my vocal output. It may be cliched but ‘less has, in my case, equalled more’. The focus during the lessons is very subtle and safe - a place for private experimentation and learning. We evaluated my sound production illuminating certain areas to work on. Places of stresses and strains were noted and solutions sought through exercises. These exercises became part of a regular in-class and now everyday training. Laura was careful and respectful of previous training as well as being conscious of what SLS is trying to achieve. A passionate teacher of voice and sound production
— Sean Palmer - Physical Theatre and Vocal Artist specializing in Ancient Greek choral, Tuvan Throat, Modern and Beat Box voice work
Laura’s lessons have helped me develop both my technique and my confidence. From the first lesson I was able to put the exercises into practice and really understand the problems that I had been having. Each lesson I would bring a new song that I was learning. Her focus is amazing and her listening skills don’t miss a thing. She can spot every weakness and tailor exercises specifically to improve each one, while continuing to be completely supportive, a real skill. With gentle pressure she has encouraged me to perform regularly in public, and even to enjoy it! No mean feat. I am so happy to have met her and not wanting to sound too dramatic, she has changed my musical life
— Carole Phillips
I came to Laura with a life-long problem of feeling like my voice had at least two distinct personalities which were in no way connected. My head and chest voice were polar opposites in terms of strength, timbre and quality, and so I treated them entirely separately and would never use both in a song. As a result, I was limiting myself as a singer, and in the songs I was writing, as I could conveniently leave out a huge chunk of my voice. I had always assumed that you could either do certain things with your voice ... or you couldn’t, and that those who could were just lucky enough to be born that way. I was however curious that this assumption might be wrong, and I am so glad that this curiosity led me to Laura. Although I still continue to develop, Laura has already been instrumental in helping me overcome what I had thought were insurmountable ‘problem areas’ and breaks in my voice. Where I used to experience a huge gear shift from one voice quality to the next, I can now make the transition smoothly and comfortably. I really cannot downplay this achievement, as I thought it completely impossible before I met Laura. Laura’s knowledge of her subject is thorough and her genuine care for her students provides a safe place in which to learn. With Laura’s guidance and expertise I am learning what my authentic voice – free of strain and effort – feels and sounds like, and am so excited at how much more I can achieve
— Natasha Cox - Singer
Laura has a canny and rare ability to pinpoint exactly where your vocals needs work and then sets about doing exactly that. Immediate improvements noticed, which have also endured!
— Estelle Rubio - Singer Songwriter
My lessons with Laura are the highlight of my week. Not only is she a skilled and patient instructor, she’s also encouraging and positive and let’s you go at your own pace. She’s made me realise my potential and boosted my confidence more than I ever thought possible. I’m learning something new about my voice with every lesson. It’s so exciting
— Kellilicious, Kelly Sylvia - DJ/Producer/Singer
One afternoon in August I was searching the net in the hope of finding a new singing teacher. I had been looking for hours and had nearly given up until, I stumbled across Laura’s website. When I read her credentials and heard her voice I knew I had found ‘the one’. I emailed Laura in the off chance that she was not too busy to take on another student, and the moment I read her reply I knew that I did not want anyone else to teach me. Not only is Laura an amazing singer, she is also a great teacher. She is professional and warm, and if I am honest, I have not met many people in the world that are as lovely natured as she. In just three lessons I noticed an enormous improvement in my vocal quality, thanks to the warm ups that Laura had shown me. Laura has been so patient with me and has really taken care of my voice (as I came to Laura with a vocal cord problem). Through Laura I have regained my love and confidence for singing, and not only have I found an extraordinary teacher, I have also found an extraordinary person and someone whom I can call a friend. I would recommend Laura to anyone who is interested in learning to sing or to improve their singing abilities and who wants to have fun and enjoy their lessons. With Laura you get great training, great lessons and great fun. I am so happy I kept looking that one afternoon! Thank you Laura
